Biographical note: John received a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering from University of Manchester in 1968 and worked in the UK Aerospace Industry before joining CSIRO in 1972. He obtained a PhD in micro-meteorology from the ANU in 1978. His scientific interests are in experimental and theoretical studies of environmental turbulence. John has been Head of the CSIRO Centre for Environmental Mechanics since 1991 and is currently Chairman of the CSIRO Climate Change Research Program.
