Computing With Significant Figures

In each of the following problems, try to work out the value begin asked for. When you think you know the answer, click on the button at the end of the question and a worked solution will appear.

  1. What is the area of a rectangular playing field, measuring 125 m in length and 264.3 m in width?

  2. What is the volume of a calcite crystal? Assume the crystal has a cuboid (i.e. box) shape and its measurements are 22 mm by 19.5 mm by 1.2 cm.

  3. What is the average speed of a train which travels at 77.5 km in 2 hours?
