Converting To Scientific Notation

The first question is concerned with converting numbers into scientific notation.

In the following table, you are required to fill in the last two columns. The first column gives the number to be converted. The second column gives the "significant figure" part of the number, while the third column gives the appropriate power of ten. As an example, the first rows have already been filled in.

If you are having problems, consult the page on scientific notation.

After filling in all the boxes, click on the button at the bottom of the screen. The page will redisplay, except that any incorrect answers will have disappeared! You can then keep trying to fill in the right answers, or give up, as you wish.

Warning: Express whole numbers (such as 4) without the decimal point and begin answers between 0 and 1 with a "0."

2700=2.7x 10 ^3
0.19=1.9x 10 ^-1
163=x 10 ^
0.01=x 10 ^
109 000=x 10 ^
60.87=x 10 ^
0.008 97=x 10 ^
