Mark Weber began his undergraduate career as an actuarial finance student at Macquarie University. After some time he "saw the light" and, totally seduced by the beauty of abstract mathematics, became a student of Ross Street. He graduated with his PhD in 2002 and then spent 4 years as a postdoc in Canada (Ottawa and Montreal). In July 2006 he rejoined the Macquarie University Mathematics Department, where he pursues his research into higher dimensional categories and related topics with Michael Batanin. When not doing maths, he can usually be found struggling up some hill on his bicycle.
