On 10 February 2011, the University announced a review of the Faculty of Science to be conducted by Emeritus Professor Andrew Lister, Professor David Day and Steve Robertson with the following terms of reference:- Alignment with University Strategy
- How well has the Faculty, in its operation of CORES, met the aspirations of the University?
- Has the addition of new CORES in Science been adequately resourced?
- What is the proper role of service teaching in Departments?
- What are the factors contributing to the loss of service teaching in Statistics, Maths and Computing and what are the risks of losing more?
- Teaching Profile
- How appropriate is the Faculty profile for the current UG and PG market?
- Resources
- How appropriate is the current Faculty Funding Model for Science?
- Is the funding distribution to the Departments appropriate?
- Is the Science budgeting process optimal and the allocation of resources appropriate?
- New opportunities
- Identify new opportunities for income generation in terms of new programs , especially PG coursework.
- How appropriate are the future plans for new programs.
- Is there appropriate funding for the development of new programs and initiatives?
